A Shopify app that links a store to the Jorge Castro AI SEO platform so it can publish blog articles, product content and categories to the store and keep their status in sync.

Overview
This Shopify app is the store-side bridge for the Jorge Castro SEO platform. A merchant links a store to the platform, and from then on the platform pushes AI-generated blog articles, product descriptions, product categories, pages and author details into Shopify through the app. Product and article updates made in Shopify are reported back so the platform's view stays current. Merchants can connect through the standard app install or a custom-app flow that can be embedded inside the platform's own settings screen.
My role
The app was built mainly by other engineers on the team. I made a focused set of improvements to the custom-app connection flow so it works properly inside the platform's settings modal:
- The embedded page reports its own height to the parent window, so it no longer scrolls inside a fixed-height frame.
- A store that is already linked is recognised from its API key, so the merchant sees the linked store instead of the setup wizard again.
- Copy buttons fall back to a manual copy when the browser blocks clipboard access inside a cross-origin frame.
What it does
- Connects a store to the platform with an API key
- Exposes endpoints the platform calls to publish and update blog posts, products, product categories and pages
- Lists blog authors and categories for the platform's editor
- Listens to product, article, uninstall and scope-change webhooks, plus Shopify's privacy compliance webhooks
How it's built
It is a Remix app in TypeScript built on Shopify's app template, with Polaris and App Bridge for the admin UI. All store writes go through the Shopify Admin GraphQL API. Sessions and store connections are stored in MySQL, and stored credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The platform authenticates to the app's API routes with an API key and shop domain header pair. The app ships as a Docker image.
Highlights
- Domain input is normalised, so a merchant can paste a storefront URL or an admin URL and the app resolves the permanent store domain.
- Webhook handlers notify the platform about status changes so published content does not drift out of sync.
